On the other hand, tourism has the potential to create beneficial effects on the environment by contributing to environmental protection and conservation. It is a way to raise awareness of environmental values and it can serve as a tool to finance protection of natural areas and increase their economic importance.
As Puerto Vallarta grows and tourists turn into residents, concerned and active neighbors are joining forces to contribute to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of our colonias.
Our own Dean McConkey organizes a weekly Clean Sweep on Sunday mornings with children from the colonia. Concentrating on the streets starting from Los Muertos Beach and going east on Basillo Badillo, Venustiano Carranza, Lazaro Cardenas, Francisco Madero and Aquiles Serdan, you will find pairs of young Vallartenses cleaning the streets. Aside from preventing the garbage from flowing into the Pacific Ocean with the first hard rain, these young citizens are spreading the good habits we hope will become a mainstay in our colonia.
Other citizen brigades (pictured above) clean up the Rio Cuale, Los Muertos Beach, and Gringo Gulch. Please join us. Contact us today to get on one of these clean-up crews and feel good about doing good in your colonia.
