Artisan Market on Steroids

The 10th Annual National Artisan Market comes to Vallarta from February 2-19, 2018.  This market on steroids hosts more than 200 stands of individual artisans from 20 states throughout Mexico and the invited countries of Ecuador, Peru, Turkey and Colombia.

The market will set up on land in front of the Hacienda Buenaventura, between Outback Steakhouse and San Javier Hospital in the Hotel Zone North.

The market, organized by the Federacion Mexicana de Artesanos proudly protects, maintains, preserves, and educates the public on the Mexican artisan traditions that have been handed down from generations.

The Mexican states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, Michoacan, Yucatan, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, and most certainly, Nayarit and Jalisco are represented.  The market brings an international flair with the invited countries of Ecuador, Peru, Turkey and Colombia.  Some stands will feature live demonstrations of working with traditional materials, in addition to the products for sale.

And no Mexican market is complete without the delicious foods and beverages representing traditional Mexican cuisine made fresh to order.

Work Out in Vallarta

Do you like to work out in the morning?  One of the ways I like to start my day is by getting out and reminding myself why I love Vallarta and feeling grateful I am here.  And that means I work out in the morning.

The morning landscape has shop owners sweeping their front sidewalk, the Corona truck delivering cases of beer to the nightclubs where people were falling in love for the evening last night, and buses full of people going to work.

One of the morning sights I like best are people getting physical.  I’m not talking about the love-struck teenagers stealing kisses in the park (even if they are chronologically teenagers or not, if you’re kissing in the park, you feel like a teenager)  — and I like to admit it always makes me smile to see so much cariño around us.  In this case, I’m talking about everything from yoga….

to Zumba….

to running on the Malecon.

in February.

During our busy weeks, I appreciate getting out into La Zona Romantica in the early mornings as the city starts to wake up.  Sometimes I need to factor in a little extra “hola-como estas-cuando nos juntamos” time as running into friends and neighbors is 100% assured.

Then there’s the hiking.  If the idea of a hike through the jungle with a beach as our destination, with a panga ride across the Bay to get back to La Zona appeals to you, then join me on one of Vallarta’s most loved and beautiful excursions through the jungles of the Sierra Madre Mountains….the hike from Boca to Las Animas Beach.  This hike is not for the faint of heart and you need to be in moderate shape.

Another Vallarta favorite is the hike straight up to La Cruz lookout in the Col. El Centro.  This vertical hike rewards you with panoramic views of Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas.  So when I want to feel extra grateful, you can find me here.

The bragging rights on having gotten “up to the cross” are pretty significant.

Contact me directly at erick@jggrouppv.com and let’s go yoga on the beach, run on the Malecon, Zumba in the park, go on a jungle hike, or take a selfie at the top of the cross!
